In this week’s Recruiting Blog, we are joined by Northwestern University Head Coach Spencer Allen.  Coach Allen shares with us what the typical recruiting timeline looks like from his perspective.

Coach Allen says the recruiting process never really stops: they will find guys early on in their high school career and even guys who don’t sign until late in their senior year.

Coach Allen believes that typically 85% of players are committed by the early signing period, but if you happen to be in the 15% that’s not committed yet, it isn’t time to panic.

Coach Allen’s main advice: work to develop.  Don’t be so focused on the commitment that it takes away from your development as a ballplayer.  If you focus on development it will pay off in the long run.
