Former Big League Scout Todd Blyleven believes the key to having good control for a pitcher is having good direction to the plate.

An easy way to make sure you are having good “direction” is to focus on having good balance.

Finding a good balance point and pushing towards the plate from that point is key to good control.  Your front shoulder and front foot should be going in the direction where you want the ball to go.

Todd would drive his left shoulder wherever he wanted the ball to go and would even change where he landed his front foot.

Make sure your pitchers have a great balance point and are driving off the mound towards their target to maximize their location.
