Next Level Ballplayer is pumped to share this week’s exclusive interview with San Diego Padres’ first basemen Yonder Alonso.  Yonder has established himself as one of the top young players in the game today and continues to prove that he’s in the big leagues to stay.  His baseball journey has taken him from High School standout, to University of Miami All American, to 1st round draft pick by the Reds in the 2008, to making his major league debut almost two years later, to being the traded to the Padres, and finally, to becoming one of the rookies in the league.

Many thanks to Yonder Alonso for taking the time to sit down with NLB and talk about the importance of loving the game, the hardest adjustments for him going from HS to college and college to pro, best hitting advice he’s ever received, importance of “watching the game”, why getting out of slumps is mostly mental, advice to ballplayers wanting to make it to the next level and more.

“You have to put in the work when nobody is watching.”
