In this week’s Coaching Blog, Arizona State Head Coach Tracy Smith gives advice to coaches on how to run practice and ideas for competitive drills.

Coach Smith thinks that practices should be shorter rather than longer, and most importantly you need to keep it fun.  Keeping it on the shorter end and making practice fun will keep your players more engaged.

Coach Smith’s favorite drill with his players at Arizona State is competitive BP.  This is a high-paced drill where you treat every pitch thrown in BP like a game and have your defense play out the result.

This drill is also great for situational hitting and working on the offensive side of the game.
